By Jim Donovan M.Ed.
Drum Circles are a powerful way to connect people. For many thousands of years, our ancestors used drumming as a catalyst to bond their communities together. In the circle, we had a way to express ourselves, release emotional energy, witness and be a witness to each other, support and be supported, be a part of something bigger than ourselves and deeply enjoy the gift of being alive - all though the power of music.
Now more than ever, it's time to bring our families, friends, neighbors and enemies back together. I believe that one way we can do this in our own communities is by creating experiences for connection to happen.
This is where Drum Circle Leadership comes in.
One of my missions is to teach as many people as are willing how to lead transformative drum circles. The reason I'm so passionate about this idea is that I have seen the development of hundreds of friendships first hand. I've witnessed people show up to drum completely stressed to the max, only to leave 2 hours later relaxed and in balance. I've seen apathetic young people, corporate executives, NCAA basketball teams, bishops and even workers in a Saw Mill transform into energetic and cohesive teams (without using their smart phones!).
Drumming with others is POWERFUL.
Even in 2015, I believe we can still use the tools of ancestors and bring the people in our world back together again- one community at a time.
The Drum Circle Leadership system is based on the idea that if there is desire, there is a way. There are no prerequisites for our trainings, and musical experience is not required. If you do have musical training, you will be delighted about how you will be able to use your existing skills a new ways. We'll show you how to get your drum circle started, and keep it exciting and fun for years to come.
I invite you to join us.
