What is Your Word for 2015?

A Simple New Year's Resolution

Happy New Year and welcome to my new blog!

Some friends and I have been doing this tradition for a couple of years with surprising success and I thought you might be interested in getting in on the fun. Basically, the idea is to come up with just one word... (Yep, only one!) that most sums up what you would like to bring to your life in the new year.

I use my word as a reminder each day through the year just to keep me on track. For example, this past year my word was "fruition". Over the past 12 months, my word reminded me to prioritize and focus on completing big projects like my first book and an online learning library. Though "fruition" is just one simple word, I found the effects of remembering it each day to be profoundly positive and helpful.

I think of my "word of the year" as an easy way to cut through the clutter and make meaningful change for myself.

I'll start: My word for 2015 is "Phenomenal".
I want to feel and be phenomenal in my health, home, relationships and creativity. I also want to spread this feeling to each person I encounter and embody it within all that I offer the world.

So... if you're in...
Would you tell me please,
What is your word for 2015? I gotta know...

Just leave a comment below to join the party...

May your 2015 be Phenomenal.
Jim

  8. Hi Jim, my word for 2015 is Attention. I need to pay more attention to my day and what I do. I need to pay more attention to how present or absent I am in my thought process. I need to pay more attention to my body and how it feels and the food I eat. I need to pay more attention to how fast life passes, and enjoy the now of my life. Thank you very much, Tom

  10. My word for 2015 is play. For no other reason but itself. Got hit by the old two-by-four upside the head in sweat lodge Ssturday. Spirit says play so I will play.

  14. My word for the year has to be relax.

Relax when I'm playing, and when I go to work, and most definitely when I'm with my family.

  16. After much thought, I have picked the word "lighten" -
    - To become light or lighter.
    - To become less serious or more cheerful.
    - To become brighter or clearer; to brighten.
    - To burst forth or dart, as lightning; to shine with, or like, lightning; to flash.

  18. Clarity. Clarity in my speech-so that others can hear what I am saying, I say what I mean and I stay clear in my message to the universe. Clarity in my life-keeping my priorities-family, spiritual, physical and emotional health and building my new business.

  19. Forgiveness.
I forgive myself for not finishing those projects, for not finishing those self help books, for putting on 10 pounds, for finding fault with myself at every turn. It's time to be gentler with myself.

  20. Reveal -- as in being genuine, authentic, and vulnerable. No more hiding behind who I think I should be. Time to be who I am. Life's too short.

  21. Breathe.
I thought a lot about one word that could guide me through 2015, but nothing seemed to click. Then I was hit by inspiration and "breathe" has multiple meanings to me personally right now. I am very optimistic about the new year and thought a word might help me retain this optimism. Happy New Year to all!

  22. Empower.
I will empower myself by saying "yes" to new friends, new ideas, new adventures.
I will empower others by saying "yes" to offers of assistance when I am the one in need, so that they also can enjoy the satisfaction of reaching out.
I will be empowered by seeing the changes in life - empty nest, physical changes, slowing my steps a bit as opportunities to see the things that often had to whiz by as I hurried from one task to the next.

  23. Rebuild
2014 was a long, arduous year. By the end of the year, I was exhausted.
Long story, short: New Home (Old fixer-upper), numerous health issues, new job with new responsibilities. And, no matter how much I volunteer, apparently, I'm still not doing enough. Learned how to say "No" to people, and it has served me well.
Time to replenish my energy and renew my spirit.
It will be, as they say in sports, a rebuilding year.

  24. Authenticity. I am looking to reconnect with my Authentic Self, warts and all. In years past I have steered toward what felt right only to be left with questions and lack of true feelings. 2015 will be the year I am able to have more Authentic relationships with friends and family as I will no longer be playing a role.

  25. I decided to change my word for this year from "fear" to "leap." I'm using my idea of fear...as my mantra for this year. {The only thing to fear is fear itself.} I chose {Leap} because I left my back breaking job to use my creative ability to make a living. My friend that is a published author has done research and is backing me. He has his masters in marketing . This is the biggest leap of faith I have ever taken. Jim what helped give me the push was the online classes I took with you...I read over the notes and my mission statement. You have no idea how much it helped me change my thinking. Those classes has changed my life for the better. I am happier, live one day at a time, quit smoking and started sharing some of my work. I met the most amazing, goal orientated, successful man...we have been dating for six months now. We are co writing a book about dating after 50. LOL I'm 62 now. I have trusted myself to feel love, something I felt I would never do. He took a leap of faith 13 years ago and built a business that is going strong. For the first time I felt I deserved better that what I had always settled for. So much of the credit for all my life changes have come from the wonderful people that has crossed my path from the first time I went to your drum class. I heard everything you said during those drum circles, even the difficult to hear things. The summer retreat I went to brought closer and clarity to my life. It took time. Little by little my thought process changed...it's beautiful, something I never felt I would feel. I walked into that first drum circle feeling alone and thought I had nothing to live for. I was tired. Now there is beauty in everything and things to learn about myself during turbulent times. A thousand thanks for every word, for the love bubble for everything you have done to help others and everyone that has learned from you. I found a family, a connection...a feeling of oneness. I am one of your success stories...in so many ways you saved my life. While on our family cruise in Honduras I met a group of drummers...I drummed with them, sang with them. (Yes I used my voice) We were one. My sister was watching and she was in tears...she told me she finally understood what the drumming, chanting did for me. She said I glowed...I looked happier than I have ever looked.. I even knew the song they sang. A photo taken is my cover photo on FB. This is why I feel my word for this year must be...Leap. It's is even more than a leap of faith. I would love to attend the drum revival this year. I am a new person...confident, less critical of myself and others....and I miss that wonderful love bubble. What may be a delay for this year and why I didn't jump and sign up, is my son is coming home, he has been away from family for eleven years. It will be an adjustment for him, for us, as his story is another winding road. Depending on everything that comes our way I'll have to see if this year will work out. I'll toss it out to the Universe Thanks again Jim and for every beautiful soul that helped in my transformation...my word is Leap. My much more than a leap of faith. xoxox

  26. I shared your idea at a new year's eve party in the south of France. We then inscribed our words all over a wooden crate which we offered to our host as a gift.
As to be expected, she was honored and touched.
Some of the words I saw on the crate: freedom, stressless, fun, faster, change, coherence, travaux, paix, and my own word is confidence.
Thanks so much for such a lovely idea! It has now gone international!
